Update 43

After a difficult start for the release where I had hardcoded local paths into the game, we managed to get a version out. It seems like most people like the new interface, but there are still a lot of work to do.

I have of course fixed the reported bugs which were mainly related to not being able to start the game at all, and to a bug where it wasn’t possible to start the flights without the game crashing.

I have also tried to add some more realism into the game for the possible routes. This means that I have implemented the restrictions, so routes between specific countries aren’t allowed. To do this I also had to add unions, since most of the restrictions are between the EU and other countries.

For the first release you might have noticed that the countries weren’t working correct, and that countries like West Germany appears in 2016. I have implemented so we now get the proper countries shown in the correct time periods. I just need to update the data behind before it is 100% completed.

I am planning on releasing a new prealpha every week or two to get as much feedback as possible before a final release

Update 42

Let us start with something new. I have released the prealpha version of the new version, and as I write in the forum, please be aware that it is only a prealpha version. I am stillย  working on the game and adds new functionalities every day.

I added a few new features before I released the version, so now it is possible to take out a loan. This might be a minor thing but it is the start of the finances page.

I also added mergers to the game, so now the AI will do the predefined mergers.

For the next week I will both look at the inputs from the test of the prealpha as well as implementing some more stuff. The first thing I will implement is the page for an airliner at an airline, then some more on the finances page and after that it is time to go back and look at the whole slots things, since that is still missing a lot of work.

I also hope the blog update next week will be a little longer ๐Ÿ™‚

Update 41

It’s Beginning to Look a Lot Like…..The Pre-alpha version will be released…..

I have worked on a number of different things the past week, to make sure that we will soon have a pre-alpha version out.

The past week I have added some new pages like hiring a pilot and also adding the pilot to a route pool. Then I have added the page for selecting opponents when creating a new game.

The last thing I have implemented is the functionality for selecting if you want to use airport logos or the airport pictures on the page for an airport.

I don’t have any pictures of any of these pages since currently my program can’t be runned because I have created a lot of bugs in the code, since I am currently working on the logic for simulating the flights for an airline, which will be the last thing I will do before the release.

I hope to get that done by the end of this weekend if everything goes as planned. This means that the human can create routes and gets the flights simulated. The cpu players will not do anything since I haven’t created it yet, so that will have to wait until the “real” alpha release.

When the flight simulation function has been implemented I will need to do some clean up before the release, but as it looks now the release will be out late next week, so please stay tuned ๐Ÿ™‚

 

Update 40

I hope everybody got well into the new year ๐Ÿ™‚ My New Years Eve was spent together with the family which was very nice.

For the game I have used the last week or so on some different game simulations. This mean stuff like simulating the daily updates, except for simulating the flights, where the game checks for built terminals, extentions, new airliners etc. I have also implemented the monthly updates like wages, sending monthly summary and yearly updates like inflations.

While implementing those updaters I have also implemented the first take on mails as seen below.

For the next week I will finish those updaters and then focus on simulating the flights. Afterwards it is time for the AI, but that is it little more complex.

I might also implement new pages as I move forward. Mainly because it makes sense before being able to progress with the game. At the moment you can’t hire pilots, so does it make any sense to simulate a flight? It is possible but still

In the next blog I also guess I will be able to say when the first alpha version will be released, since I have moved away from releasing a GUI only version
